The 1 and 3/4 bowl setup gives you the option of washing in one bowl and rinsing in the other. With a solid supporting bridge between the bowls, there are no weak areas that can be compromised by water. The attached drainer can be used to dry plates and utensils, but it can also serve as an extra space for defrosting large cuts of meat.
