I bought this top-loader machine in 2019 because they're meant to be more robust than front-loaders. Of course, nothing is built to last anymore, even "robust" top-loaders and the washer gives us "out of balance" issues, presumably because of suspension issues, which seem be common, looking at Google. It's been 5 years, but I would expect a top loader washing machine to last at least 10 years, and to have a 5 year warranty, after all, durability is the main reason I chose this over a front-loader.

My old machine was a Fisher & Paykel 7.5kg Smartdrive and was 25 years old so I thought I'd stay with the brand. I went slightly larger with an 8.5kg model. It does a good job. It makes a few different noises compared to the old one, but overall it is actually quieter than the old one. I don't know if I'll get 25 years out of this one, but so far, for the few weeks I've been using it I'm happy with it. Some of the features that made me pick this model was that it has an agitator and a 1000RPM spin speed. I wanted an agitator and a fast spin speed mainly because the bulk of my washing is work clothes that are often heavily soiled. But it still does a good job with my other lighter loads on different settings.

I had a 15 yo smaller model which was more flexible. I could precisely adjust the length of wash. The spin/drain cycle is significantly louder. But it still does a great job and I would never buy a front loader. I’ve always had F&P since the 1970s. When I had very little money I bought a second hand model and it lasted a long time. My fridge/freezer and dishwasher are also F&P after considering other brands. They all have the features I want.
