Gordon House by Greg Natale

As seen in the Winnings Design & Culinary Guide Issue 08

Greg Natale brings together a collision of colour and character on Sydney’s North Shore.

The brand-new rear extension applied to this two-storey Federation-era residence in Gordon, on Sydney’s North Shore, is described by its designer as “a charming collision of colour, character and considered design”.

Greg Natale incorporated traditional elements such as parquetry flooring, fluted wall panelling and custom mouldings, yet juxtaposes them with contemporary interventions such as chequerboard zellige tiles, richly veined marble, terrazzo flooring and sculptural joinery.

The designer’s palette moves between soft European neutrals and jolts of red, chartreuse and cerulean expressed through nuanced gestures such as the expansive red wine joinery.

The open-plan kitchen and living space exude warmth, anchored by a vaulted ceiling and softened with bouclé-clad lounges and creamy carpets.

Matching the high-quality ambience is an enviable array of kitchen assistants, prominently featuring a Zip HydroTap G5 Elite Plus paired with a Turner Hastings Novi Fine Fireclay single bowl butler sink.

Cooking duties are covered by the capable combination of a Bosch Series 8 90cm Flex Induction Cooktop and matching Series 4 Electric Built-In Oven, along with a Westinghouse Built-in Combination Microwave and Oven.

A Liebherr integrated upright refrigerator and freezer combo is the perfect accompaniment for this sophisticated kitchen, while in the adjacent bar, the Liebherr 80 Bottle Vinidor Built-In Wine Storage Cabinet provides this highly entertaining space with indispensable service.
