Saturday InDesign Sydney 2026

A Landmark Day at Winnings Redfern

Sydney turned out for Saturday InDesign 2026, and Winnings Redfern was at the heart of the action.

Some 1,711 guests came through the doors of our Redfern Flagship Showroom, making it the biggest day in the showroom’s history and Winnings Redfern the most visited showroom across Saturday InDesign 2026.

Throughout the day, leading architects, designers, suppliers and creatives came together for a curated program of design conversations, culinary experiences, live art, craftsmanship, music and hospitality. The result was a celebration of the ideas, people and innovations shaping how Australians live.

Here are some of the highlights from an unforgettable day.

A Morning of Design, Coffee and Connection

The day began with breakfast and freshly brewed coffee as guests gathered at Winnings Redfern before setting out to explore the Saturday InDesign program.

Early arrivals were also invited into an exclusive gifting suite, where a collection of gifts from participating suppliers offered a memorable start to the day. With only 100 gift bags available, they did not last long.

More than a place to begin the day, the showroom quickly became a meeting point for Sydney’s design community. A space to reconnect with familiar faces, exchange ideas and discover what was ahead.

Design Conversations That Looked to the Future

Thought-provoking conversations unfolded throughout the day, beginning with the official Indesign panel, Where the Home Meets Wellness and Hospitality: How Are Designers Blurring Typology Lines?

The discussion explored the increasingly fluid boundaries between residential, wellness and hospitality design. Panellists considered what designers can learn from different typologies, where the most successful crossovers are occurring and how Australian homes may evolve as these influences continue to converge.

Later, acclaimed interior designer David Hicks joined Sussex for a conversation about craftsmanship and product innovation. Together, they explored the changing role of tapware in contemporary interiors, from a functional necessity to a sculptural design element shaped by materiality, precision and craft.

Wellbeing returned to the stage in a conversation with V-ZUG, wellness expert and chef Luke Hines, Jacob Olsen of DKO, Joseph Lombardo of 9D1 and Emma Nunan from Winnings. Looking at nutrition, movement, technology and sensory design, the discussion considered how the home can become a catalyst for healthier and happier living.

The program concluded with an intimate conversation with artist Mike Hewson, who shared insights into his creative process, influences and approach to curation, including a behind-the-scenes look at selecting and bringing together pieces.

Innovation Brought to Life with Miele

The Miele Airstream rolled into Winnings Redfern for a day of culinary inspiration, giving guests an opportunity to experience the latest cooking technology in action.

Across live demonstrations, Miele’s culinary team shared expert techniques and showed how considered design, performance and innovation come together in the kitchen. The hands-on format transformed appliance features into tangible experiences, allowing guests to see, taste and understand how technology can support everyday cooking.

Culinary Experiences Around Every Corner

Food became another expression of design throughout the showroom, with a series of experiences celebrating quality ingredients, thoughtful presentation and high-performance appliances.

Luke Hines joined V-ZUG for an inspiring cooking demonstration centred on making healthy, delicious meals feel simple. Guests discovered practical techniques and fresh ideas while seeing V-ZUG’s approach to precision and wellness in the kitchen.

At the ILVE activation, AP Pizza served fresh slices in a celebration of Italian craftsmanship, flavour and the shared pleasure of gathering around food.

Hitachi partnered with the chefs from Ora to present freshly prepared sashimi and demonstrate the role of its vacuum technology in helping to preserve delicate ingredients. The experience brought Japanese culinary precision together with appliance innovation in a fitting showcase of freshness.

Fisher & Paykel’s Ocean Table drew inspiration from the Australian coastline with a beautifully presented seafood spread. Set within the brand’s display, it demonstrated how thoughtful design and innovative technology can make entertaining feel effortless.

Hospitality, Reimagined

The hospitality continued well into the afternoon, with considered spaces inviting guests to pause, connect and take in the atmosphere.

The Zip Hydration Station served refreshing non-alcoholic drinks from the morning before transforming into a spritz bar later in the day. The activation brought together hydration technology, design and hospitality in one seamless experience.

Cantina hosted the official wine bar, pairing wine and cheese with a closer look at the technology behind considered wine storage. Nearby, the V-ZUG Cocktail Bar offered premium cocktails overlooking the courtyard, the perfect vantage point from which to enjoy the energy of the event.

Exploring Creativity Through Clay

Sydney ceramicist Ryan Der, founder of Love, Ryan Ceramics, brought a tactile dimension to the program through pottery.

Ryan’s playful and practical approach celebrates individuality and the beauty of handmade imperfection. His work offered guests a reminder that creativity can be both personal and purposeful, turning thoughts and emotions into something tangible through clay.

Site-Specific Art by SHAL

Multidisciplinary artist Shaun Daniel Allen, known as SHAL, created a site-specific art activation for Winnings Redfern.

A proud Yugambeh/Bundjalung artist working across painting, textiles and sculpture, SHAL brought another layer of creative expression to the showroom. The work reinforced the spirit of Saturday InDesign: curious, collaborative and grounded in the power of design to tell stories and shape experiences.

The Sound of Saturday InDesign

Internationally recognised Australian DJ, producer and composer Jono Ma provided the soundtrack to the day.

Performing through Atlas Harmonic speakers, his considered music curation brought contemporary energy to the showroom and courtyard. The soundtrack moved with the event from morning through afternoon, complementing the art, food and conversation while encouraging guests to stay, connect and enjoy the space.

More Than a Showroom

Saturday InDesign Sydney 2026 was more than an event. It was an opportunity to experience Winnings Redfern as a destination for design, creativity and connection.

The record attendance reflected the strength of Sydney’s design community and the relationships that made the day possible. We extend our sincere thanks to every guest, speaker, artist, chef, collaborator and supplier who joined us and helped bring the showroom to life.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Winnings Redfern, and to sharing more inspiring ideas, experiences and conversations in the future.
