Smeg Induction Cooktop 82cm
After some initial getting used to the feel of the control panel and where to place your fingers when trying to increase/decrease heat settings (hint: keep your finger on the outer circle to avoid setting the timer) we were away laughing. Consistency of heat and great control over cooking temp should mean the end of burnt meals once you know which setting is best for different foods. Surface shows up every splatter but clean down is a breeze. Size is just right for us as does not take up too much bench space. If replacing another cooktop be aware of size of cut out hole as is a bit different to most. We had a larger hole in our bench but had a local engineering firm knock up a simple 3mm stainless frame to hold the cooktop in place. Also remember to get a dedicated 6mm copper conduit from your power box to the appliance as it will need ample amperage and needs to be hard wired. If installing above existing stove ensure there is enough ventilation for the cooling fan (incredibly quiet by the way) at the front of the cooktop by removing existing panel and cutting a hole with a jig saw to insert a stainless cabinet grate from Bunnings (Hafele 86 x 500mm Ventilation Grill). Can hide any visible wood through grate with a bit of black paint. Use mounting gasket (tape used to go under edge of cooktop to prevent leakage into cabinetry) but don’t stick appliance down with other sealants to bench as this will prevent easy servicing if electrical issues occur.
Great product so far and can’t say enough about Winning Appliances and their service team.
not user friendly
The smeg induction cooktop is very difficult to use. The dial system for heat control is very awkward and frustrating. Not sure why they would design the appliance this way. I would definitely choose a more user friendly cook top
SMEG 82cm Induction Cooktop
Purchased the SMEG cooktop due to reliable usage of the SMEG ceramic cooktop. Was surprised that the price had not dramatically increased since my last purchase 20 years ago. The new Induction cooktop with the touch controls does require some practice, especially the rotation action to obtain the right temperature setting. Each time it becomes a little easier.
