Good: Suction, sturdy, easy to use, no bags Could be improved: All plastic, small catchment needs emptying often for a larger house

We previously owned a Dyson but gave it to our daughter when we bought a Dyson Stick model. However we found that this purchase was not entirely suitable for all our needs and are glad we purchased a new Barrel type. I have always wanted a Dyson vacuum cleaner being a bit OCD with clean. And they are advertised as 'the best' (with a price tag to match). What I love is the suction! Fantastic! What I struggle with is that for a vacuum cleaner that is marketed as easy to care for given it's lack of bag and it's lack of wear out filter, I find it high maintenance to keep in terms of cleaning it (can't wash it; hard to reach suction nozzles to wipe or brush); on what it is able to 'suction' (nothing more coarse than fine dirt particles it seems); and on how often it needs emptying. That barrel doesn't hold much! So don't give away your broom cause you'll need it for soot down your chimney, and be really careful of any water close to your new baby. But on carpet that needs a good scrub, it is great.
