Mosman House by Greg Natale

Greg Natale’s richly layered design presents an intriguing mix of materials and finishes.

Drawing inspiration from the pared-back classicism and modernity of the Villa Necchi Campiglio in Milan, designer Greg Natale has incorporated no fewer than 28 different types of stone in this rich, multi-layered reimagining of a harbourside home in Sydney’s Mosman.

The four-story, five-bedroom residence features elements of Italian rationalism and brutalism combined with art deco touches. Marble abounds in floors, walls and portals, defining different unique zones of the home in tones of burgundy, pink, green and ivory.

The significant use of opulent stone surfaces contrasts a number of different timber treatments, including fluted walls that draw on art deco influences, as well as dramatic ceiling coffers. Square panels on cabinetry reflect a brutalist style, as does the sizeable mural on a courtyard wall designed by Natale.

A collection of vintage, contemporary and custom furniture and accessories adds luxurious neutral and gold tones — nowhere more evident than in bathrooms with their generous selection of Fantini Venezia tapware and accessories in British Matte Gold, complemented by the sleek Catalano Zero 55 wall-hung toilet.

In the kitchen, pantry and bar areas, a premium range of appliances includes a pair of Zip HydroTap G5 Elite units, offering the instant choice of boiling, chilled or sparkling water. A WOLF 91cm Induction Cooktop and WOLF M Series built-in microwave oven, in the kitchen and pantry respectively, are matched in the bar by a Miele 62cm Induction Cooktop and 60cm Built-In Combi-Microwave Oven combo.

A pair of Liebherr Integrated Refrigerator and Freezer units are fitted to the pantry and bar, the latter complemented by the appropriate addition of a Vintec 40-Bottle Dual Zone Wine Fridge.
