Le Mer by Gull Design

As seen in the Winnings Design & Culinary Guide Issue 08

A contemporary, rather than coastal, makeover is complemented by quality appliances.

A clear instruction — “strictly not coastal” — was the key brief to the designer of this complete refit of an ageing beachfront unit in Noosa’s trendy Hastings Street, just footsteps from the famous beachfront.

Stepping back from predictable seaside tropes, Gull Design and Darren Magee Construction worked together to craft a contemporary, sophisticated interior that would feel as at-home in a city penthouse as it does in Noosa’s bustling main street.

An important component of creating just the right ambience lies in careful appliance selection, with Gull Design opting for a matching suite of kitchen and laundry assistants from Fisher & Paykel’s advanced Series 7 range.

In the kitchen, a 60cm Induction Cooktop sits atop a matching-size Contemporary Pyrolytic Built-In Oven, providing plenty of culinary firepower and cooking convenience. The cooktop features PowerBoost as well as a Touch and Slide function to easily control each cooking zone, moderate temperature within seconds and pair two zones together. It even remains cool to the touch until a pot or pan is placed on its surface.

The built-in oven in classic black offers nine separate functions, including pizza bake, grill and roast, while ActiveVent and AeroTech technologies respectively ensure moisture control and even heat distribution. Even post-meal clean-up is easy, thanks to its pyrolytic self-cleaning function.

Keeping the theme going, Gull Design also chose Fisher & Paykel Series 7 for the French door refrigerator, dishwasher and integrated rangehood, while a Zip HydroTap G5 Celsius Arc Chilled and Sparkling Filtered Tap offers handy and versatile hydration.

With its curated mix of refined finishes, rich textures, and a striking palette, the result is a home that balances warmth with elegance.
