The defining feature of each stool is its solid brass seat, chosen not only for its visual richness but for the way it naturally interacts with touch. Inspired by architectural details where brass is used at points of human contact, the seat is both tactile and expressive, developing a unique patina over time. The solid timber legs are turned by hand and finished with natural oils, soap, or traditional waxes, allowing the grain to remain present and the material to age gracefully.
Offered in both counter height (640mm) and bar height (740mm), the Mr.Fräg Dowel Stool collection is a study in restraint and harmony. Each element is essential, nothing extraneous, and together they form a piece that feels grounded yet refined.
Purposeful design made with natural materials
The Mr.Fräg Dowel Stool distils each element down to its essentials, simply form and function in perfect alignment. The thoughtful use of authentic and unembellished materials creates a piece that feels timeless, grounded, and quietly expressive.
Counter or bar height options
Available in 640mm for counters and 740mm for bars, the Dowel Stool suits a range of settings, from casual kitchen islands to elevated entertaining spaces.Its proportions offer a comfortable perch while maintaining visual lightness and balance within the space.
Solid brass seat
The solid brass seat is available in a polished or black anodized option which creates a striking contrast to the timber legs. Inspired by the way brass is used in architecture as a point of human contact, it invites touch and gains warmth and depth through a natural patina over time.
Hand-turned timber legs
The Dowel range is crafted from American White Ash with a Danish soap or Japan black finish, or American Walnut with natural oil and beeswax. These combinations enhance the wood’s rich tone and grain while allowing the timber to age with subtle shifts in character.
