I was hoping I could route the exhaust from my range hood outside the house, but that was not possible, so these charcoal filters were the next best solution. Compared to our old system that had no filters, it seems these filters remove around 80% of cooking smells. This exceeds my expectation.

Works well. No more cooking odours - at least at the moment! The big negative is the very big price tag, especially when the recommendation is to re-purchase and re-fit one every 6 months. It seems opportunistic as it's the only filter that can be used in our inherited Miele range hood. Feels like we're being held ransom. If you choose a Miele range hood you need to be aware that it will cost you one way or the other - either almost $300 yearly for a consumable, or pay the price of having a very smelly cooking area.
