The De La Espada Duet Dining Chair is a graceful interplay of movement, form, and material. Named for the two flowing timber lines that define its silhouette, Duet reimagines the classic bentwood tradition with a more sculptural, crafted approach. Made from Danish Oiled Walnut and upholstered in Canvas 764, it balances artisanal detailing with everyday comfort, offering a refined yet welcoming presence around the dining table.

Though it echoes the elegance of steam-bent wood, Duet is meticulously constructed from individual carved components, joined with traditional mortise and tenon techniques. This allows for continuous, fluid curves while proudly revealing subtle join lines and the rich grain variation of solid walnut. The Canvas 764 upholstered seat introduces a soft, tactile element to the design, a cool-toned grey with multi-tonal depth that quietly complements the warmth of the timber.

Expertly crafted at De La Espada’s solar-powered workshop in Portugal, the Duet Chair reflects a commitment to long-lasting beauty and responsible making. The solid walnut is sustainably sourced and finished by hand with non-toxic Danish oil, enhancing both the timber’s character and longevity. Designed to be both seen and experienced, the Duet Dining Chair is an elegant addition to spaces where thoughtful design and craftsmanship are valued.
Danish Oiled Walnut for Lasting Beauty

Sourced from the midwestern United States, American black walnut is revered for its strength and rich, expressive grain. Each piece offers unique colour variation, from deep chocolate tones to lighter blond sapwood. Finished with Danish oil, the timber’s natural beauty is enhanced while maintaining a surface that can be renewed over time.

Canvas 764

Designed by Giulio Ridolfo for Kvadrat, Canvas 764 is a wool-rich upholstery textile with a soft, tightly woven surface and subtle colour complexity. Its cool grey tone is interwoven with delicate contrasting threads, adding quiet sophistication. With 100,000 Martindale rubs, it offers excellent durability alongside refined texture.

From Forest to Finish

Produced in De La Espada’s solar-powered workshop near Portugal’s Silver Coast, each piece is crafted by independent master artisans. Combining modern precision with traditional handwork, the process is tailored to bring out the finest qualities of every material used.

Intricate Joinery for Lasting Integrity

Rather than opting for simplified construction, De La Espada products are composed of multiple precisely crafted components. This intricate joinery allows for optimal timber grain direction, refined shaping, and durable long grain-to-long grain bonds—resulting in furniture with unmatched depth, strength, and detail.
