Worth the wait
The cooktop has proven to be worth the wait, but the wait was painful. We assume that the pandemic and disruption of international trade explains a lot, but it doesn't explain the lack of digital tracking, a standard of mail and delivery services.
We were particularly happy with the careful work done by the installers recommended by Winning. Despite their own difficulties with weather, one quarantine period and delayed delivery of the cooktop, they kept us appraised of plans and were very attentive to our needs.
We visited Winning three times, and even after expressing interest in the ASKO, we were surprised to learn that between visits there had been an ASKO demonstration onsite. That would have been a deal maker for us. Instead, we spent a couple more weeks trolling online and checking other sources. Linking announcements of demos with the product pages would overcome such glitches.
The hybrid design of the ASKO 90 is ideal for our needs. The induction offers great control over temperature, the gas is proving great for wok and large kettle cooking. We tried a rectangular griddle (not the ASKO product) previously used on our gas cooktop, but the built is legs and ridges prevent sufficient contact with the bridge section. We would like to have that option for pancakes and fry-ups, but do not want to spend more than $100 for a flat bottom grill. We will keep looking.
Overall? We are very happy with the product.
