The Winning Guide to Fortitude Valley, Brisbane

The Winning Appliances Brisbane store is located in the heart of Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley. ‘The Valley’ as it is affectionately known, is a shopping, dining and entertaining hub located northeast of the CBD. In the chic James Street Precinct modern eateries sit next to high-end fashion stores, designer home ware boutiques and fresh food markets.

We’ve put together our Winning Guide To Fortitude Valley to help you discover the best of this suburb next time you visit our Fortitude Valley showroom.

Eat

Just a few short metres from the Winning Appliances showroom you will stumble upon a rather tempting sign telling you it’s “Doughnut Time.” From this retro-looking hole-in-the-wall the Doughnut Time bakers cook and serve an incredible range of glazed and stuffed doughnuts including: Bacon and Maple Syrup, Nutella and Mint and Choc Aero Top.

There are a couple of great options for coffee in Fortitude Valley. Merlo Coffee have won the title of Australia’s Favourite Coffee twice in a row and their drive in roasting house on McLachlan Street has been known to stop traffic. For a good cup of coffee with some interesting scenery head to Jamie’s Espresso Bar, on the corner of James and Robertson. Jamie’s outdoor seating spills into a street art decorated alleyway that will keep you amused as you enjoy your brew.

Serving fresh seasonal food all day long is the elegant Harvey’s Bar and Bistro. Those with a sweet tooth should not pass up the chance to try Harvey’s ricotta-buttermilk pancakes with caramelized banana and honeycomb butter. The savoury brunch dishes aren’t to be overlooked either, especially the wild mushrooms and lentils on toast with grilled haloumi.

But back to desserts! Fortitude Valley is also home to the flagship bakery of Jocelyn’s Provisions. The open kitchen means you can watch the bakers hard at work baking all the delicious cakes and pastries you’ll find in the shop’s display cabinet, as well as producing the biscuits, chocolates, nougat, panforte and preserves that line the shelves.
