Eat

You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to eateries on Danks Street – whatever food you are in the mood for, the local cafes have you covered.

For a taste of the Middle East head to Kepos & Co. The recently opened sister restaurant of the popular Kepos Street Kitchen offers an exotic lunch menu of share plates such as warm hummus made in a mortar and pestle, haloumi with Turkish spinach, and lamb kefta burger with harissa relish. The restaurant décor matches the menu with twinkly lanterns on the ceiling and vibrant patterned throws on the courtyard seating.

For sweet treats with an Asian twist head to Devon On Danks. Devon On Danks is another sister eatery, this time to the ever-popular Devon Café near Sydney’s Central Station. The brunch menu here, with its incredible sounding dishes such as Brioche French toast, carrot sorbet, warm spiced crumble and cream cheese icing, pulls in the crowds, but for something a bit different you must try their range of pastries. Regular features on the cake counter include green tea flavoured cronuts (a cross between a croissant and a doughnut) and matcha infused doughnuts. They also offer an unusual dessert of truffle flavoured soft serve ice cream, which dip people dip their hot chips in!

Also in the area is an outpost of the delicious artisan sourdough bakery Sonoma – a great place to grab a cup of coffee and a loaf of bread to take home with you. If you fancy some French bread and pastries, The French House is the place for you. For those around a little later in the day you can enjoy nibbles and cocktails at Mojo by Luke Mangan – a cool converted warehouse that you’ll often spot the well-known chef hanging out in. (Open from 4pm Tuesday to Thursday and 12pm Friday and Saturday.)
