Want to give your home a quick makeover? Maybe you want it looking insta-worthy for that party on the weekend - or maybe you just need to change things up!
Well, here are a few ideas that will help you refresh your home in ways that are simple, inspirational and beautifully effective.
1. Refresh with greenery:
Bringing a little bit of the outside world into your home can add life, colour and elements of sculpture to your home. Not only that, they’ve been shown to improve the mood and health of a home’s occupants. Be sure to put them somewhere they’ll get plenty of light, in an uncluttered area - oh, and don’t forget to water them!
2. Refresh with texture:
Plants introduce an element of texture - a point of aesthetic contrast that prevents a space seeming cold and sterile.
In the same way, textured elements such as wood detailing or chunky rugs and throws can lend a room a welcoming feel. Just be sure to strike the right balance - to prevent things becoming cluttered!

3. Refresh your furniture:
Rethinking the arrangement of your furniture can have a big impact on the dynamic of your home: adding a new perspective or flow to a room can be the pickmeup things need.
And if you’re on the lookout for new furniture, remember what’s old can often become something beautifully new - with that ability to add (that word again!) texture. Discover the beauty of what you can find in vintage shops - or your own attic - adding a lick of paint, or varnish, where needed!
And we also have to give a shout out to the idea of reappropriating treasured retro appliances - a beautiful 50s Westinghouse fridge, for example, can become a cabinet for books, mirrors, vases or various object d’art.
4. Refresh with artwork:
Adding artwork can also bring a bold and evocative aspect to a space. Larger pieces, in particular, are very in vogue and can really transform a room. If you’re wary of spending a lot of money, keep an eye out in second-hand shops for large prints - or, of course, you could be inspired by the artistic muse to create something of your own!

And if you’re feeling a little claustrophobic or cramped in a tight space, here’s a pro tip: adding a mirror will create the illusion of a bigger space and help bring more light to a room.
5. Refresh with minimalism:
Okay so we might seem like we’re contradicting ourselves a little, but if your space is getting very cluttered, stripping things back - simplifying things - will help to revive your space, making it feel more productive and livable. While we’ve just been telling you to add elements to bring texture to your home, be sure to choose these details judiciously - to avoid overloading your space with details.

6. Refresh with focal points:
Creating a deliberate - yet not a sterile or fussy - style in your home, will be greatly helped when you consider "focal points". These should ideally be a fusion of both the sentimental, practical and aesthetic. For example, arranging a comfy chair with a vintage side-table and lamp near a bookcase will create a cosy nook for reading on a wintry evening.
7. Refresh with accents:
Adding accents to your walls can add a distinctive element to a home's look and feel. Think about adding a tiled splashback to revamp your kitchen or paint yourself a feature wall for an injection of color or an interesting detail.

8. Refresh the details:
It'll make a big difference to update a room's outdated fittings and fixtures. If they're starting to look like relics left over from the last millennium, then it might be time to apply a deft touch when it comes to replacing details such as light fittings, door handles and door knobs.
