Highlights from EuroCucina

Last month, Winning Appliances attended EuroCucina - which gave us a fantastic insight into the appliance-trends set to make an impact on kitchen design throughout 2018.

EuroCucina Festival

2018 was the 22nd edition of the biennial event, which is the leading showcase for high-end kitchen products in the world. Held in Milan, it saw 117 companies display their newest innovations for an international audience.

Once again, it demonstrated how kitchen design has progressed from merely functional design parameters. The kitchen has evolved into a social hub, demonstrating trends that encourage inspiration and interaction while looking toward new standards of functionality and innovation. Here is a little taste of what we saw there.

Black metal

In terms of design aesthetics, we were struck by the increasing presence of dark/black metallic appliances, offering a sleek, dramatic contrast to the traditional white and silver tones - Smeg, notably leading the way.

ASKO also embraced the trend, unveiling a new range of black finish cooktops - this one below also demonstrating a very sleek flush installation.

Siemens and Ilve (below) we thought also delivered with a range of beautiful dark appliances.

And for a point of contrast, we were also taken by the Smeg Portofino range - with a variety of bright colours available.

Innovation

Other highlights included the ongoing incorporation of home appliances into the smart home suite.

Electrolux’s “SenseOven”, for example, can be controlled by remote control from your smart phone while engaging with the user via what the brand is calling the oven’s “responsive glass”. The glass provides information throughout the cooking process, such as indicating to the chef which shelf is the best position to achieve optimum cooking results.

We also liked their new Electrolux SenseFy induction range, which allows the user to set the cooktop to maintain the perfect correct temperature in the pan, for amazing results.

We are looking forward to seeing many of these technologies in the Australian market very soon! If you're looking to update your kitchen, use our MyProject tool to start planning now!
