Presenting Fisher & Paykel’s beautiful new Integrated ‘Column’ refrigeration

It is our privilege to shine a spotlight on the arrival of these new premium cooling appliances. Fisher & Paykel proudly unveil a range of Integrated refrigerators and freezers, giving customers remarkable freedom to personalise their refrigeration solution.

Integrated appliances are an increasingly popular option for contemporary kitchens, offering ultimate design freedom. In smaller spaces or those with an open plan, integrated appliances can help the disparate zones of the kitchen feel part of a larger cohesive space. You can also choose to integrate some appliances and put the focus on others for example, choosing what to hide and what to show or use as a featured product.

Fisher & Paykel has become a global force not just in product design, but also in kitchen design and is committed to develop products that can seamlessly integrate into kitchens in innovative ways. Through collaborative work with architects and designers, they have identified that modern kitchens are being designed with a strong emphasis on integration, detailing and customisation, which is particularly relevant, as kitchens increasingly become the central focus of modern living.

Based on this research, Fisher & Paykel’s latest generation of premium appliances have been thoughtfully designed with integration in mind and to offer a rich and sophisticated aesthetic to create the illusion of more space. Appliances and utilities, such as dishwashers and refrigerators, have been designed to be concealed behind kitchen joinery to create the look of a kitchen as a sophisticated storage unit.

Fisher & Paykel’s range of kitchen appliances, including selected refrigerators, rangehoods, DishDrawer™ Dishwashers and CoolDrawer™ Multi-Temperature Drawers can all be integrated in this way to match your cabinetry, and provide a beautiful seamless appearance. Integrated Dishwasher and DishDrawer™ Dishwashers offer a compelling illustration of the excellence of Fisher & Paykel’s design integration, that is achieved via an internal control interface and minimal 2mm gaps, that allows for near invisible installation into cabinetry.

Similarly, the introduction of the new Integrated Columns Refrigeration and Freezer range adds another layer of sophistication to their range of integrated products.

This stylish new Columns series includes modular vertical fridges (610mm and 762mm) and freezers (457mm, 610mm,762mm), which can be mixed and matched with different sizes and finishes, to be installed either side-by-side or individually throughout the kitchen, providing ultimate design freedom for your kitchen.

Customers taking a more hands-on approach to kitchen design, or working with a designer and architect, can customise their door panel to integrate seamlessly with their existing décor - or use Fisher & Paykel’s optional stainless steel door panels, with a choice of two handle styles. The sleek stainless steel units fit flush with cabinetry with minimal 3mm gaps and no visible hinges or grilles, while a toe-kick allows for variable height and depth.

Both beautiful to look at and use, the stainless steel interior adds a touch of sophistication, with full extension metal bin runners and robust cantilevered glass shelves with metal trim. Inside both fridge and freezer, bright LED lights illuminate the ceiling, shelf, bin and tray, creating a welcoming glow in the kitchen when the Column doors are open.

Shane Rehm, Fisher & Paykel’s Chief Group Engineer for Refrigeration Product Development, says the design and functionality of the new Column series was the result of extensive research and rigorous testing.

“We learnt that customers love the idea of independent compartments inside their fridge,” he says: “And we also know that different foods require different temperatures so we developed a system that combines the two.”

While Fisher & Paykel have been one of the forerunners of the growing integrated appliance trend, the flexibility of Columns reaches far beyond design potential. The state-of-the-art Variable Temperature Zone system provides simple, one-touch conversion of food storage compartments. Column fridges feature Fridge, Chill, and Pantry food modes, while Column Freezers offer a general Freezer mode along with Soft-Freeze and Deep-Freeze options. Each mode is optimised to provide total foodcare, suiting the way you shop, cook, and entertain.

Working alongside the Variable Temperature Zones is Fisher & Paykel’s ActiveSmart™ technology. Utilising independent fans and multiple vents to adjust airflow and humidity ActiveSmart maintains a stable and even temperature throughout the entire compartment.

Fisher & Paykel CEO, Stuart Broadhurst says: “Our focus was on designing an integrated refrigeration platform that delivers class leading food care, high quality design and reliability, and seamless kitchen integration for the global marketplace.”
