I loved this coffee maker for the first two years that I owned. Recently it started having issues. I noticed that the top part was no longer seating level, and was leaning to one side; and this started causing issues with the seal. That seal is essential to the vacuum filter system. Turns out the clever little magnets they had embedded in the collar of the carafe have expanded and cracked the plastic. The insides of those rare earth magnets degrade quickly when exposed to oxygen, causing them to degrade faster; and now they are leaking black dust. The degraded powder from the magnets contains neodymium, which is toxic; so yay... It's a shame this defective design, embedding magnets in the plastic, has turned what was an amazing coffee maker into an expensive chunk of eWaste.

We have had this just over 12 months and only ever used as per instructions. The handle on the upper container cracked and broke as if it was exposed to excess heat after 6 months and now the top of the lower jug is doing the same, effecting the seal and therefore its function.

Amazing design. Easy to use. Enjoy the whole coffee making process.
