Poor quality, poor design - don't waste your money
I have always liked Kenwood products and regularly use my mother’s Kenwood cake mixer from 1969 which is still going strong. I purchased this top-of-the-line processor in February to replace my nearly 10yo processor, as I wanted the extra feature of the ‘Express Serve and Dice’.
I wish I hadn’t wasted my money. The unit housing the motor felt very lightweight compared to my old processor, and within four months the plastic bowl and the Express Serve and Dice are both broken and unusable.
The handle broke off the bowl and the Express Serve attachment snapped in half, after sliding from my bottom shelf about 5cm onto a vinyl plank floor (not even a hard surface like tiles or polished concrete). I’ve had a number of items, including chinaware, fall out of my cupboard over the years and not break. My son-in-law reattached the handle but now the lid won’t click into place, so it’s completely unusable.
That aside – the new design is flawed. The grating discs are too narrow and don’t go to the edge of the bowl, like my previous processor. Therefore you end up with ungrated/undiced chunks’ sliding to the side of the attachment and into the bowl – requiring the need to manually pick out a lot of wasted food, as they are too large to include in the grated/diced food, and too small to feed through again. Same problem with the Express Serve – I only got to use it once before it broke, but the sliced food fell between the blade and the side of the bowl (therefore more ended up falling into the bowl than going through the chute). I tried using my old blades, thinking this might solve the issue, but ‘of course’ the central spindle is different and they do not fit.
Disappointed in this product is an understatement – not cheap to purchase but certainly cheap and nasty plastic that is not fit for purpose, and a very faulty design. If I could give 0 stars I would! Don’t waste your money.
