As Australia Day approaches we’ve rounded up the best food events around the country to help you celebrate the occasion with some treats for the taste buds!
Mr Bao Opens In Sydney CBD
The team behind Mr Bao, makers of the much-loved steamed buns found at Bondi Markets, have opened a brand new eatery in Sydney’s CBD. The menu is based on a fusion of Tokyo’s and Taiwan’s street food and features Mr Bao’s Favourite’s, like succulent steamed buns filled with crispy deep fried chicken or crackling pork belly, and Mr Bao’s Specials, such as soft shell crab golden dippers. Find the light-filled new flagship store at 56 York Street, Sydney.

Drive In Movies At Eat Street Markets
Brisbane’s awesome Eat Street Markets just got even better with the addition of a drive in cinema. Now you can dine your way around the food trucks, serving all types of delicious international cuisine, before catching one of the latest movie releases at the retro drive in cinema. You can also purchase snacks on site from the American Diner or via the roving Segway team who will be whizzing around delivering snacks, chocolate and ice cream. Great Australian Bites In Queensland
Queensland celebrates Australia Day at the end of this month with 3 fantastic foodie events in Brisbane, Airlie Beach and Port Douglas. At the Great Australian Bites events, held from Saturday 23 to Tuesday 26 January, local culinary leaders will showcase quality Queensland ingredients with a variety of taster plates and drinks at pop up food stalls. A program of live entertainment will also be on offer across the four days, as local artists take the stage.
The Great Australia Bites Brisbane venue also offers a great view of the spectacular display of fireworks that will light up the Brisbane city skyline on Australia Day, Tuesday 26 January, from 7.30 pm.

Australia Day In Sydney
Sydney will be hosting a range of events to celebrate Australia Day too. For us foodies there are a couple of options including Festival Village at Hyde Park and The Rocks Australia Day party. At Festival Village you’ll find delicious treats and funky tunes by Soul Of Sydney. There’ll also be live music, international food stalls and the Rocks Brewing Company’s open-air bar down at The Rocks. If you’d like to enjoy your own Australia Day picnic with a fantastic view of the celebrations taking place in the harbour then head to the brand new Barangaroo Reserve. The events on Sydney Harbour will begin at 11.40am with a Ferrython and sailing of the Tall Ships under Sydney Harbour Bridge.
