Katherine Sabbath’s Colourful High Tea Now Available In Sydney and Melbourne
Katherine Sabbath is a Sydney based schoolteacher whose cake creations bring out the child in everyone. Her colourful cakes have garnered her an Instagram following of over 180k and now, thanks to her collaboration with The Tea Salon, everyone who has drooled over her Insta-images can devour them as part of a Katherine Sabbath Limited Edition High Tea. From now until the end of November The Tea Salon at Westfield Sydney and The Tea Salon at Emporium Melbourne will be serving up triple tiered stands full of Katherine’s creative treats. The menu includes items such chocolate brownie koala donuts; sweetheart lime & ginger cheesecakes; and dark chocolate & orange fudge tarts with salty toffee shards.

Luis Tan Arrives In Bondi
uis Tan is a new South American meets Asian restaurant in Bondi opened by a team of hospitality pros. The owners consist of Raul Gonzales, Shane Moran, Nathan Joliffe and Ryan Ginns, a foursome with impressive credentials, whose experience covers names such as Potts Point’s Backroom, Surry Hills’ Brooklyn Social, Ruby Rabbit, White Revolver and The Grounds of Alexandria. The menu at Luis Tan features ceviche and pinxos created by Venezuelan head chef Alejandro Franco Lancini, and drinks ranging from South American rums and piscoes, to Japanese whiskies and sake. There’s also a range of vegan and vegetarian dishes to cater for the health-conscious locals.

Variety Of Chefs Warm Up at Winning Appliances Osborne Park
Winning Appliances Osborne Park recently hosted some of Western Australia’s leading chefs who came to the store to film an introductory video for the Variety Of Chefs 2015 Ball. Variety is a charity dedicated to helping children growing up with disability, serious illness or disadvantage. Their sold out event, which took place in Perth on August 29th, bought together award-winning WA chefs from Clarkes of North Beach, Modo Mio, Incontro, Nobu and La, plus our own chef ambassador Josh Catalano, who each designed a course to create a delectable degustation. The filming at our WA store gave the chefs a chance to meet some of the children and families supported by Variety and resulted in an afternoon filled with fun, laughter and mess as mountains of cookies were made and decorated using the ovens in our demonstration kitchen.

Winners Announced At Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Awards 2016
Australia’s dining elite gathered at The Carriageworks in Sydney this month to celebrate The Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Awards 2016. Hosted by Channel 9’s Leila McKinnon the event was filled with well-known faces from the culinary world, including Aria’s Matt Moran and Giovanni Pilu of Pilu at Freshwater. As guests feasted on an inventive menu put together by the team from Icebergs and 10 William St, the winners were announced. Among those taking home awards on the night were Phil Wood and Neil Perry of Rockpool, which won Restaurant of the Year, and Darren Robertson and Mark LeBrooy of Three Blue Ducks, which was named Regional Restaurant Of The Year. The Best New Talent award was won by Lennox Hastie of Firedoor, Sydney, whilst Bennelong won New Restaurant of the Year. These are certainly the names to watch in 2016.

Giant Picnics at Sydney’s Bangaroo
Foodies gathered at Sydney’s Bangaroo Reserve this weekend to enjoy a picnic with some of the country’s best chefs and food producers. The September Giant Picnic, part of a series of monthly events to celebrate Sydney’s newest parkland, featured food by Cooks Co-Op, the Bread & Butter Project, Miss Lilly’s Kitchen, Aria catering and Bourke Street Bakery. The next Giant Picnic takes place on October 4th and will be a celebration of the sea.
