As a fourth generation Australian family retail business, supporting other Australian industries and talent is incredibly important to Winning Appliances and this week we had the privilege of recognising some of our nation’s best established, and up-and-coming designers at the Belle and Coco Republic’s glamorous Interior Design Awards.

One of the most anticipated and prestigious award evenings of the year, the awards recognise Australia’s leading designers and, according to Coco Republic, “sets the benchmark expertise, creativity and vision in what is a highly competitive and progressive industry.”
Having worked with some of Australia’s most iconic designers to help create beautiful kitchens over the years, we were incredibly proud to be the major sponsor for the Best Residential Kitchen category.
Kitchen design has come a long way in recent times, and the calibre of the projects in this year’s awards are not only testament to Australian designers, but also the imperative role Belle and Coco Republic play in supporting and celebrating Australian design talent.
So without further ado, we’re excited to share the fabulous details of the winning project that took home Best Residential Kitchen for 2016.
2016 Winner for Best Residential Kitchen Design: Whiting Architects for O’Grady Kitchen

With more and more Australians opting or apartment living, restrictions with space is a common obstacle faced by kitchen designers.
Whiting Architect’s O’Grady Kitchen adopts a fresh and innovative approach to kitchen design, utilising limited space to create a beautifully functional and planned area.
Showcasing an oak, tan leather and white palette, the kitchen creates an organic theme that perfectly ties into the rest of the residence. The clever use of integration allows plenty of storage and maintains the simplicity of the minimalist design.
According to Creative Director Carole Whiting
“The kitchen is quite deceptive – what appears to be a small working area at the end of a large volume of white space is only the beginning. The fridge is recessed into the rear wall hiding behind oak handles. The long joinery bench runs the full length of the living room from the kitchen to the laundry area, which doubles as a butler’s pantry. The overall style is monochromatic but in keeping with the subtext of ‘hiding in plain sight’ there are numerous tones and colours accentuating and giving weight to the architectural elements. Leather handles help disguise the function of the cupboards holding appliances and add an organic overtone,” says Carole.
On behalf of all of the Winning Appliances team. congratulations and well done to all of the winners and finalists!
