The kitchen in the Sydney heritage cottage was a top priority for interior designers Juliette Arent and Sarah-Jane Pyke, reflecting the owners' love for entertaining. It's opulent but not overly formal, with sculptural pendants and a walk-in pantry for surprise visits.

Thomas Hamel & Associates

The design brief for this Sydney bathroom was clear: create a timeless ensuite that complements the primary bedroom and dressing room. Designer Thomas Hamel delivered with a freestanding bath, walk-in shower, mirrored double vanity, statement floor tiles, and contemporary pendant lights, all with a twist of old-world European detailing.

Best Laundry

Studio Gorman

Double oak-framed glass doors in a striking arched entryway reveal this inviting laundry on NSW's Central Coast. Studio Gorman's solution includes ample storage, V-groove finish cupboards, and two washers and dryers, blending aesthetics with functionality, as described by Suzanne."

Best Bedroom

Hugh-Jones Mackintosh

Justine Hugh-Jones and Katrina Mackintosh transformed this bedroom into a stunning retreat, blending Georgian features with vintage pieces and a refreshing palette. Vibrant, calming shades offer respite from the urban bustle. The 'Poliedri' chandelier by Carlo Scarpa pays homage to historic detailing, while a curated collection of vintage furniture and artwork adds a new chapter to the home's story.

Best Indoor-Outdoor Connection

Madeleine Blanchfield Architects

Owners Michael and Shirani Clark wanted a unique, transportable luxury cabin for their wilderness hotel business. The result is Hutch, a small room integrated into the valley landscape. Madeleine Blanchfield and project architect Kevin Ewart worked with Dulux to match paint colours from nature. Hutch combines quiet luxury with nature-infused interiors, blurring the line between indoor and outdoor.

Best Soft Furnishings

Kate Nixon

Kate Nixon and her team were entrusted with updating furniture and soft furnishings in a grand Sydney home's formal lounge. They aimed to complement the existing architecture and family's treasures. The centrepiece is an over-scaled leather ottoman, connecting custom Flexform Gregory sofas and a vintage rug. Elegant sheers filter garden and harbour views, creating a timeless, comfortable, and sophisticated ambience.

Best Use Of Colour

Hugh-Jones Mackintosh

Inspired by Michael Muir's candy-coloured artwork, Hugh-Jones Mackintosh used a custom green paint to transform this sunroom, mirroring the garden's hues outside the 1920s heritage residence. With vibrant furnishings, the room offers a tranquil retreat from the city's bustle while maintaining a muted yet warm base palette.

Best Use Of Materials

Brett Mickan Interior Design

Interior designer Brett Mickan drew inspiration from the early 1900s factory history of this home. Balancing soft and hard elements, he incorporated built-in timber joinery for clean lines and layered rich fabrics, carpet, and wallpapers with the owner's art collection to create a luxurious inner-city sanctuary.

Rising Star Winner

SE DÉA

Stone, concrete, and wood panelling blend seamlessly to fulfil the owners' request for a tranquil sanctuary in this Sydney Eastern Suburbs main ensuite. Designed by SE DÉA, the space combines coastal and city elements, incorporating wabi-sabi elements for a serene atmosphere, leading to a relaxing sauna.
