If you love coffee like we do, the only way to start the morning is with a daily dose of caffeinated goodness, supplied on demand with minimum fuss. Our mental health and happiness depends on it!
Winning Appliances stocks a very wide range of coffee machines, each one an excellent option for the right coffee lover.
In fact it is so wide that at, first glance, the list of appliances - with all its sizes, shapes, makes and types - might seem a little overwhelming. And all you want is a good cup of coffee, right?
But don’t stress, this is your guide to everything on offer - and which one is best for your daily fix!
Built-in vs Bench-Top
The first thing to understand is that Winning Appliances broadly divides coffee-machines into two distinct categories - Benchtop and Built-In models.
The difference is pretty self-explanatory: built-in machines are those designed to be literally built-into your kitchen cabinetry.
Meanwhile, the benchtop varieties are freestanding small-appliances that, you guessed it, typically sit on your kitchen benchtop. It’s in this latter category where the most diverse varieties occur - and perhaps where the most confusion lies!
Bench-Top Models
Winning Appliances features bench-top options ranging from entry-level models to the most sophisticated high-end units for the serious coffee connoisseur.
You’ll find everything from automatic machines that can deliver a delicious cuppa simply at the touch of a button - to beautiful manual machines that put the power of the barista in your hands, letting you froth the milk and determine the strength of your coffee to your own exacting standards.
-Capsule Machines:
Capsule machines should generally be considered an entry-level option - albeit an incredibly popular choice in Australia.
Very cheap and very simple to use - all you have to do is simply pop one of the hermetically-sealed capsules into the machine and let it do the rest. They are a great option for those early starts when you need a coffee in a hurry - and just want your coffee machine to do all the hard work.
The positives are very clear, they are:
- A very affordable option
- Easily maintained with little cleaning required
- Deliver the caffeine bliss with a minimum of fuss
And to acknowledge the downsides, we have to point out that:
- Capsules will be a much more expensive option than buying coffee beans in the long run
- Used capsules can be recycled, but often end up in landfill
Purists sometimes claim the drinks produced lack intensity or richness of flavour.
An especially popular example at Winning Appliances is the: The Delonghi Nespresso Inissia Coffee Machine EN80BAE.

Beautifully simple to use, this little machine offers lightning fast heat up times and lets you set your preferred coffee length to automatically deliver the goods. It’s the perfect way to start a day when (like us) you can’t think too clearly until your morning coffee.
You’ll note that it comes with a separate milk frother, which is a fairly common arrangement. There are exceptions, however, like the Nespresso Lattissima Touch Coffee Machine EN560W.

This one is also from the good folk at DeLonghi, who have incorporated the frothing process into the machine via the incorporate milk carafe, which - incidentally - can be placed in the fridge, if you want to conserve any left-over milk for your next brew.
Made with DeLonghi’s customary quality, the Thermoblock heating system gives you heat-ups in approximately 25 seconds, with the intuitive control panel offering you six options - espresso, long, milky-latte, cappuccino, latte macchiato and hot milk - depending on your preference.
It's worth pointing out that machines like this also have the important advantage of being very compact - making them good for small kitchens and apartment living.
-Automatic Espresso Machines
As the name suggests, these appliances deliver a terrific cup of coffee with automatic convenience - virtually at the touch of a button. The difference is these machines require the use of fresh beans for the coffee (as opposed to a pod or capsule) which are ground up by the machine.
Zero barista expertise is required - the best examples of these are as obliging and skilful as the good folk at your local coffee shop. And for those coffee fans a little sceptical about their ability to deliver the coffee they absolutely prefer to the exacting standard they require, they are a great option. Importantly, they will allow you to adjust for your ideal type and strength of coffee and then - and here’s the crucial part - get that same quality drink over and over.
Just remember that when it comes to guaranteeing the most delicious coffee - don’t underestimate the importance of the quality of the bean. The better the bean, the better your coffee - no matter how good your machine is!
So the positives that are guaranteed to give you a buzz:
- Very easy to use
- Can give you a lot more flavour and quality
- Will save you money on the cost of the beans
Negatives:
- You will spend a little more for a good machine

This beautiful example of modern coffee-making technology just about does it all for you at the touch of a button - but that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty of scope to customise the way you like your coffee.
Beautifully engineered and designed (clearly by people who know, and love, their coffee!), the unit incorporates a superb user-interface, featuring the TFT display and rotary selection which will swiftly and intuitively direct you to your perfect cuppa.
Meanwhile Jura’s “Aroma” grinder works exceptionally quickly while preserving the delicious aroma of the coffee beans - with the “Pulse Extraction Process” ensuring the optimum extraction time for a short speciality, then delivering an incredible flavour for the ristretto and espresso.
DeLonghi Magnifica S Coffee Machine

Similarly, the Delonghi Magnifica S Coffee Machine features a brilliant control panel, letting you prepare any kind of coffee with the touch of a button. Meanwhile, by simply rotating the centre knob - you can increase or decrease the coffee aroma intensity.
-Manual & Semi-Automatic Coffee Machines
Of which there are a number of spectacular examples at Winning Appliances. Many real connoisseurs will prefer the control these machines allow (a bit like the preference some have for manual cars over automatic ones!).
Note the semi-automatic variants will automatically cut off the flow of coffee according to a programmed quantity, while the manual types will require you to cut the flow yourself. Otherwise, both will require you to have more than a passing understanding of barista techniques, such as dosing, grinding and tamping.
With that in mind, they obviously aren’t as simple to use as their automatic counterparts - but with the correct skills at your disposal, you will have the ability to make a brilliant cup of coffee just the way you like it.
The positives are:
- They put the power of making a great coffee in your hands!
- Incredible flavours of using fresh coffee
The singular negative obviously is:
- If you don't know how to use them well, you may well end up drinking murky water until you get the hang of it.
The Bezzera Mitica Top Coffee Machine is one of the best examples of this kind of machine - a superb appliance for the connoisseur. With twin-boilers, it gives you the ability to brew coffee and foam up the milk with steam at the same time.

It also includes details such as a cup warming tray: helping to keep your cups at a warm, constant temp, thereby stopping your coffee from cooling down too quickly. Meanwhile it can be supplied from the in-built tank or - for extra convenience - plumbed into the mains water supply. Larger models like this will naturally need a bit more room - so make sure you have the benchspace to accommodate it.
-Drip coffee makers
To account for the complete range at Winning Appliances, we have to mention the drip coffee machine (let's go from one extreme to the other, shall we?). Just about the most basic coffee machine of them all - but to give credit where credit is due, it still makes a decent cup of coffee. And if drip coffee satisfies your cravings, then you’ll be saving on the initial outlay as well as plenty of effort in the long run.

This one, by Breville, may well be your new best friend - and can even be pre-programmed so you can wake up to a fresh brew in the morning.
Built-In Models

This category is a little easier to get a handle on - if only because you’ll find there’s a lot less discrepancy between the various model types on offer. These automatic machines are designed to sit flush in your renovated kitchen, thereby clearing bench space.
From the outset, we should say that aesthetic considerations are generally an important determining factor in this category - the best kitchen designers will try and match the appliance to other kitchen appliances.
An excellent example is the: Neff Built-In Coffee Machine C17KS61NO.

Beautifully designed in sleek, subtle black with stainless steel accents, this fully automatic machine features a intuitive, user-friendly interface that gives you one-touch preparation of everything from a rich Espresso Machine to a classic Cappuccino.
And it’s easy to get the perfect coffee, with the controls giving you the ability to adjust settings for strength and size to your exact preferences - then you can save this under your name for future use. Meanwhile, with an easily removable brewing unit and an automatic milk cleaning system, this appliance is simple to clean and maintain - perfect for households seeking a modern and stylish coffee making solution.
That's our introduction to our range. With so much variation and so many different features on offer, we recommend you keep in mind a few basics:
- Look for clear, simple and logical controls (we have a particular preference for digital displays, in this regard).
- How much scope do you want for personalising your coffee making? Does the machine allow you to vary the coffee strength or adjust the grind?
- How much space do you have?
And remember if you have any more questions, Winning Appliances is there to help you find the right solution for your coffee-making requirements!
